New gig timing

Traditionally we have started the main band's irst set at 9:00pm. We will experiment by bringing this forward 30 minutes from the 2nd April gig.

From 2 April onwards the timing for the evening will be:

Doors open 7:30pm

Band's first set 8:30 - 9:30

Band's second set 10:15 - 11:15.

This change will allow a little more time for the audience to get home at the end of the evening and will give the committee more time to clear the room and store the equipment.

Loyalty Reward:

We are introducing a new loyalty card - if it's good enough for M&S coffee shops it's good enough for us! However in M&S you need to buy 10 to get something for nothing. At Borough Blues Club you only need to attend 4 gigs to get one free!

The new membership cards will include a loyalty zone on the reverse. We'll stamp your card when you buy a ticket to a gig.

When you have collected 4 stamps you will get a new membership card and a FREE ticket to the next gig!!

Membership renewals:

The cost remains the same as it has been since the club was founded, how many other things have stayed so constant?

Single membership is £5 and joint membership for a couple is £8. This still entitles the member to a £2 discount on all gig tickets (except the Summer Festival) and so it provides an excellent return on investment. Membership also ensures that you are kept up to date with what's happening at the Borough Blues Club.

You can renew by post or very simply by seeing John Oliver at one of the monthly gigs.

If you are an existing member John has pre-prepared all of the necessary documentation, a signature and your money is all it takes to renew!.

Relocation Feb 2016

After 10 fantastic years at New Panteg RFC we have decided to relocate. From 6th February our gigs will be held at

  • Cwmbran RFC,
  • Kings Head Ground,
  • off Station Road,
  • Pontnewydd ,
  • Cwmbran,
  • NP44 1NY

More information about Cwmbran RFC can be found at https://www.facebook.com/cwmbranrfcclubhouse/

The new venue is off Station Road and is tucked in behind Cwmbran Ford. You can find the map on Google Maps

Cwmbran RFC is a popular venue for many functions and varied activities as well as being the home of a rugby club dating back to the 1880s.

The large function room has capacity for 128 people. The club boasts an enthusiastic staff and has a full club premises licence. We hope that the move will attract a slightly bigger audience, especially from the Cwmbran area, whilst maintaining the patronage of the regulars who faithfully support us now.

We wish to thank the committee and the members of New Panteg RFC for hosting us these past 10 years, providing a facility which has allowed us to survive whilst many live music clubs have failed and we wish them every success in the future.

AGM 2016

The AGM was held on Monday 9th May at 7:00pm at New Panteg RFC.

Blues Festival 9th July 2016

Last year's festival was a huge success. The weather was perfect, the music was great, the crowd seemed to enjoy every moment.

This year we have moved to Cwmberan but still the same superb mix of great bands, excellent bar with real ale, refreshments, as well various stalls.

The line up for this year's event is:

  • 12:15 - 12:45pm The Borough Blues Club Workshop Band
  • 1:05 - 2:05pm Glas
  • 2:25 - 3:25pm Lol Goodman Band
  • 3:45 - 4:45pm Mark Davies Band
  • 5:05 - 6:05pm Jack the Biscuit
  • 6:25 - 7:25pm Luke Doherty Band

All this for £10!.

The evening gig will be the fabulous Dani Wilde - her brother has played our club on two previous occasions to tumultuous acclaim. This is a seperate gig and entry cost is £10 for members, £12 for guests

Chairman of the Committee:

The Borough Blues Club committee is delighted to announce that it has elected John Dixon as it's chairman.

Although John has only recently rejoined the committee he was a member of the founding committee in 2005 and has been stalwart supporter ever since. Neither does he lack experience as chairman - he was the founding chairman.

John has agreed to take on the job at least until the AGM 2015. He will review how it fits with his busy professional and personal life at that time.
